The AmiGo Edit 54: insider city guides...

Welcome to issue 54 of the AmiGo Edit, a special edition dedicated to our recently relaunched GoGuides. Curated by our editors and in-the-know locals, the Guides present our take on 40+ destinations. They're specifically designed to offer the “best of” each destination, so you don’t have to spend hours (if not days) researching. Our GoGuides combine worth-it classics, deeper cuts, and new openings, plus (!) exclusive hotel discounts at our favorite stays. As our most curated, extensive destination resource on the app, the GoGuides are for subscribers only, but here’s a sneak peak of a few—subscribe for more.

The AmiGo Edit 54: insider city guides...

It’s hard to pick a favorite summer destination, but Marseille is up there for us. It’s gritty—yes—but that unpolished energy is what makes it feel so dynamic and authentic. It’s chilled-out, the culinary scene is incredible, it has a real creative feel, and while it does get crowded in the summer, it doesn’t feel “touristy.” It’s the kind of place where you stay in your bikini all day long, sip natural wine with friends on the rocks at sunset, and roll straight into dinner with still-salty hair. We also love Marseille for its easy access to nature, with incredible hiking in the nearby Calanques. Highlights include:

  • Maison Journo: No frills, Jewish-Tunisian deli. Get the egg-tuna brik.
  • Boissonnerie Les Goudes: The place to grab sandwiches in Goudes before a day hiking (or chilling at the beach—pick your poison).
  • Azur World: Appointment-only, Marseille-based clothing brand. Go for stunning silk pieces.

We’d argue Japan is not a bucket list destination, simply because it’s impossible to go just once (or, to be satisfied with just one visit). Tokyo is, of course, the central hub, and it’s a dizzying maze in the most beautiful way. Here, centuries-old temples and traditions are juxtaposed with cutting-edge modernism—you could spend the morning at a traditional tea ceremony before hitting Akihabara (the electronics district) and mingling with okura (a subculture of people interested in anime and manga). Having the inside scoop is more important in Tokyo than in any other city in the world—which is why we tapped a local to help curate our GoGuide. Highlights include:

  • Ogawaken: You’re here for the raisin-butter sandwich. Just go with it.
  • SUBA VS: Standing-only soba noodle joint, with a natural wine shop on the second floor.
  • Jantiques: Incredible vintage clothing, mixed with misc. items (folk art, magazines from the 70s, & more).

What is there to say… it's Paris! The world's most romanticized city delivers on fashion, food, history, design, and culture in a way that few cities can. There are many ways to do Paris, but we like to hit a few classic spots, while leaning heavily into the more local haunts—places Parisians actually go to. Highlights include:

  • Espace Niemeyer: Oscar Niemeyer–designed modernist building, a mandatory stop for architecture lovers.
  • Dandelion: Neighborhood vibe, refined plates—it’s our date night go-to.
  • Librairie 1909: Obscure, excellent magazine selection (think punk rock mags from the ‘80s, & more).

Sifnos has long been one of our favorite Greek islands: it’s a place that feels both authentic and effortless, with a mix of laid-back villages, tucked away coves, and some of the best food in the Cyclades. Think: cliffside boutique stays, long lunches at family-run tavernas, and afternoons sunning on quiet beaches. It’s becoming much more popular each year, so we’d recommend visiting during shoulder season for the most local feel. Highlights include:

  • Η Αμμουδιά: Family-run, beachside taverna for all the Greek classics.
  • Vroulidia: Chilled-out rocky beach and our go-to for a day by the water.
  • Cantina: Book for a sunset dinner and superb seasonal cuisine.

When discussing the Balearic Islands, Ibiza and Mallorca get a lot of air time. But we’re partial to Menorca, a relaxing, laid-back island that’s much more authentic than its larger sister islands. It’s blissfully less developed, a place that rewards the adventurous (many of the most special spots on the island require effort to get to). Read: it's not for the beach-bed-and-all-day-service traveler. But if turquoise waters, seasonal cuisine, and an unspoiled countryside call to you, there’s no better place. Highlights include:

  • El Mezquite Taqueria: For the ceviche tostata (& more).
  • Cala Binidalí: One of many favorite coves—sit on the right side by the rocks for a quieter vibe.
  • Tabouret: A creative hub… a gallery, shop, and artist residence in Mahón.

One of Europe’s most enjoyable (and coolest) cities, Copenhagen sits on the cutting edge of design, food, and lifestyle, making it a go-to destination for any season (although we’d recommend timing a visit for 3 Days of Design, a community-led design fair, happening this year from June 10-12). Highlights include:

  • Tír Bageri: Only open half the year… for perfect sourdough made with ancient grains.
  • Helgoland Badaenstalt: Swimming pool built into the ocean, a beloved local swim spot.
  • Ara’kai Pantry: Recently opened healthy cafe from the team behind our favorite clean beauty spa, Ara’kai Beauty.
