Once divided into East and West, the sprawling German capital is now a unified city bursting with museums, historic monuments, and vibrant neighborhoods. The city is a creative hotbed, with a seemingly endless amount of inventive restaurants, cutting-edge fashion brands, and incredible art galleries. Given this, it should come as no surprise that Berlin also has one of the biggest nightlife scenes in the world, and partaking in the club and techno scene is a must to really experience the city.
This contemporary art museum has previously served as a Nazi bunker, a Soviet prison and even a nightclub. On the edge of the hip Friedrichshain neighborhood, the East Side Gallery is the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall that remains intact. If you have one big night out and you want a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience, book a spot (far in advance) at the eight-seat Ernst, a fine-dining destination in Wedding serving 25-course Japanese-influenced tasting menus. If you want to experience this gourmet mecca in a slightly more casual manner, try out its sister restaurant Julius, across the street.
