The Italian capital is a bucket-list destination—you can hit the classics in three days, but you can stay for longer and have plenty to do. Rome gets very crowded in the summer months, so go in the shoulder season if possible. And while it's nice to walk to dinner, some of the best, least touristy restaurants are a short drive from central Rome and worth traveling for.
This lovely square is always bustling thanks to its central location and daily flower and food market (not open on Sunday). Don't miss Forno Campo de' Fiori, a bakery on the square that is lauded for its by-the-slice pizza.
Chez Dédé is a phenomenal concept store filled with an expertly curated selection of artwork, home goods, and accessories sourced from all over the world. It's located on Via di Monserrato, which has a lot of other great shops.
The most iconic Roman landmark, the Colosseum is an amphitheatre that was used for gladiator battles, theater, animal hunts, and more in imperial Rome. Nowadays, it is one of the busiest attractions in the city, so purchase a skip-the-line ticket or visit after touring the nearby Roman Forum (the ticket gets you into both attractions and you can go directly into the Colosseum if you visit after the Forum). Madre is a great lunch spot nearby.
